How to crochet the Popcorn Stitch

  1. 1Work 5 double crochets into the same stitch.
  2. 2Drop the loop from your hook without pulling it out, letting it rest at the front.
  3. 3Insert the hook from front to back through the top of the first double crochet of the group.
  4. 4Pick up the dropped loop with the hook and pull it through that first stitch.
  5. 5Chain 1 to secure the popcorn. The group of stitches folds forward into a raised pop.

Tips

  • Popcorns use full double crochets, so they are firmer and bulkier than puffs or bobbles.
  • Insert from front to back so the pop faces the right side of the work.
  • Four-dc and six-dc popcorns also exist, the pattern will tell you how many to use.
